Description

GelMA is derived from porcine gelatin and enhanced through the incorporation of methacrylate groups to improve printability. It also facilitates crosslinking to increase construct longevity. Compared to non-modified gelatin, this gelatin methacrylate retains its shape at physiological temperature and conditions. The HAMA is methacrylated hyaluronic acid which is an extracellular matrix glycosaminoglycan. HAMA has various applications, such as tissue and bone engineering.

The GelMA-HAMA Kit is sterile lyophilized powder that you dissolve at your target concentration to prepare as a bioink or 3D cell culture biomaterial.

Application

The GelMA-HAMA Kit consists of sterile GelMA and HAMA powder along with an addition of photoinitiator necessary to blend your own bioink composition. Easy to use and to get started making and customizing your own GelMA-HAMA based bioinks or for use as a base material for 3D cell culture. The GelMA-HAMA bioink has been optimized for use with the BIO X system and temperature controlled printhead with thermal nozzle cover and the use of a cooled printbed. While the bioink can be used with the INKREDIBLE+ system due to its ability to heat the bioink, secondary steps are necessary to cool the printed structure to pre-gel it prior to crosslinking. Clogging may still occur due to lack of temperature control at the nozzle. Therefore, it is not recommended to use the bioink with the INKREDIBLE system since the bioink will not perform as expected and resulting filament characteristics may be inconsistent.
