GelXA SKIN has been developed for different biomedical applications, for example, wound healing and skin related tissue engineering. Fibrin is a critical protein that is found in the healing of many tissues due to its clotting capabilities. GelXA SKIN contains an enhanced crosslinking solution with not only the ionic binding agent but also thrombin, permitting the development of a compound network that offers unparalleled stability. After crosslinking with thrombin, GelXA SKIN contains both in situ fibrin and fibrinogen, providing a more physiological wound healing environment.
GelXA SKIN has been optimized for the fabrication of constructs for many tissues, especially skin tissues. The bioink is compatible with many cell types, for example fibroblasts, keratinocytes and melanocytes.
See the attached document for the bioprinting protocol.
